EMMY AWARD-WINNING ACTRESS UZO ADUBA & NICO ANNAN ADDITIONAL SPEAKERS AT “FEMME Z LIVE" ON AUGUST 5

EMMY AWARD-WINNING ACTRESS UZO ADUBA, P-VALLEY ACTOR NICO ANNAN AND 2021 VIRGINIA GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE JENNIFER CAROLL FOY REVEALED AS ADDITIONAL SPEAKERS AT “FEMME Z LIVE,” A VIRTUAL INTERACTIVE SUMMIT IN SUPPORT OF GENDER JUSTICE

The August 5 Summit, Hosted by the Gender Equity Coalition, Reveals New Speakers for the Digital Direct Action and Teach-In, in Which Self-Identifying Women, Non-Binary, Non-Conforming and Femme Activists Can Connect, Learn and Act for Change

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Future Coalition, the creators of “Earth Day Live,” one of the largest digital mobilizations in history held in April 2020 and garnering 5 million views worldwide, today announced “Femme Z Live,” a virtual and interactive summit to be held August 5 to encourage women and female-identifying individuals to connect, learn and act for gender justice. The Summit is hosted by the Gender Equity Coalition, a part of Future Coalition committed to developing relationships and facilitating collaboration among young female-identifying, non-binary, non-conforming and femme activists.

The summit will center around discussions and action on gender injustice, including a lack of representation at all levels of society. Women currently make up only 23.2 percent of the United States Congress, 15 percent of executives in finance. Women represent only 25 percent of the workforce in computer science-related jobs, and Black and Latina women who majored in computer science or engineering are less likely to be hired into a tech role than their white counterparts. Future Coalition represents Gen Z, a diverse and bold generation that is uniquely positioned to lead the way into a more just future for women and female-identifying individuals.

Summit participants will have the opportunity to channel their learning into action. They will connect through virtual community-building events, learn by listening to and interacting with an array of speakers on various issues, and act by learning ways to become more effective in civic engagement.

"In the midst of COVID-19 and continued gender injustice in our country, resources and community spaces for girls* must persevere,” said Alicia Novoa, Engagement Director of Future Coalition. “Femme Z was born out of the idea that feminism and organizing need to change to be more inclusive and innovative than ever before. We are here because girls demand gender justice—and we will lead the way to accomplish it.”

Femme Z Live will stream online at Femmez.us on Wednesday, August 5

11 a.m. - 6 p.m. EST / 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. PST
